BEWARE OF
CRIMINAL ACTIVITY
It was reported at
the September Meeting that there has been an increase in
some criminal activity directly attributed to difficult
economic conditions. It is suggested that
everybody take whatever steps they can to prevent crime
such as locking their doors and windows, keeping their homes well lighted,
etc. Be sure to report any suspicious activity to
the proper authorities. Help McGruff "take a
bite out of crime."
JUDGE VICTOR FREDERICK TO ADDRESS
CRIME WATCH

Judge Victor M Frederick IV will
be the guest speaker at Crime Watch's next meeting on
Thursday, October 16, 2008. He will be talking
about issues involving juveniles in the court room and
the programs that they are using. The meeting
begins at 7:30 pm and is held at St. Paul's Lutheran
Church, 348 Old Swede Road (Rt. 662), Douglassville.
Judge Frederick's Magisterial District
includes the Township of Alsace, Township of Amity,
Township of District, Township of Longswamp, Township of
Oley, Township of Pike, Township of Rockland, Township
of Ruscombmanor, and the Borough of Topton. A question
and answer period will follow.
An officer from the Amity Police
Department will discuss recent incidents in the
township. A brief meeting will precede his presentation.
Refreshments will be served. Everyone is invited to
attend
AMITY FIRE COMPANY HOLDS OPEN HOUSE ON
SATURDAY OCT 4
The Amity Fire Company held its
Annual Open House on Saturday, October 4th, at the Fire Station.
The learned about the
many ways these volunteers help our community.
There were equipment displays, live demonstrations,
medical helicopters, police doing child fingerprinting,
and much, much, more.
The Amity Township Police Department and
the Amity Township Crime Watch were well represented as
well. Balloons, badges, and 'baseball cards" with
each policeman's name and personal data were handed out
to the kids. Information regarding the crime watch
organization and crime prevention were distributed among
the adults.

SENATOR RAFFERTY ADDRESSES AMITY
TOWNSHIP CRIME WATCH

State Senator John Rafferty addressed
Amity Township Crime Watch on Thursday, September 18th
regarding the status of
crime prevention bills currently before the state
legislature. Senator Rafferty serves as Chairman
of the Senate Law and Justice Committee and prior to
becoming Senator he was Deputy Attorney General for the
Commonwealth responsible for the Criminal Law Division
and Grand Jury Investigations. As Senator he
fought hard for protection of our children with his
sponsorship of Jessica's Law and support of improvements
to Megan's Law.
